In another of our just for fun 3D conversions, I thought I'd have a go at one of my top 5 music videos and a track I still love REM's "Losing my Religion".

The stunning video, directed by Tarsem Singh, is a visually arresting piece that blends religious iconography with surrealist imagery. Released in 1991, the video plays a significant role in elevating the song's introspective and emotional resonance. Its dreamlike sequences are inspired by the works of Renaissance painters like Caravaggio, incorporating chiaroscuro lighting and dramatic poses that evoke a sense of spiritual yearning and inner turmoil. Michael Stipe's emotive performance, combined with the video's enigmatic symbolism—such as falling angels and ambiguous gestures—creates an atmosphere that is both haunting and contemplative.

The absence of a traditional narrative allows viewers to interpret the visuals in personal and diverse ways, mirroring the song's themes of doubt, obsession, and vulnerability.

Widely acclaimed, the video helped solidify REM.s position as both musical and artistic pioneers in the alternative rock scene and can now be seen in a new stereoscopic 3d reimagining.
