PLOT

Her secret becomes more and more impossible to conceal as her own boyfriend - a Scotland Yard detective - is assigned to the case and a mysterious stranger enters their lives seeking to leverage his insight for personal gain.

This 1929 classic film is not only Alfred Hitchcock's first talkie film, it's the first British talkie! Made just as film was beginning to transition to sound, Hitchcock had actually started the production as a silent film (and indeed, a silent version was also released to theaters without sound equipment). The transition to recorded dialog introduced some challenges; portions of the film features actors talking but no audible dialogue or inter titles. Additionally his lead actress, Anny Ondra had a heavy Czech accent which was not an obstacle originally. Hitchcock's solution was to record an off camera actress while Anny merely mouthed the lines.
Please note that this 3D release is limited by the nearly 100 year old source material. Both video and audio are not always pristine.
